After being given false hope by many psychics, almost being taken for a ride by a con artist disguised as a Psychic, and given somewhat helpful readings by some genuine Psychics, I came to the conclusion that the best Psychic reading I ever had was when I sat down and listened to my own intuition.

Let’s back off for a bit.

I just had a breakup and wanted my ex to come back at any cost. I found the most expensive psychic out there who just sold me a fairy tale. And one Psychic who said “I should have been married by now. And there’s a blockage in my love Chakra that I need to clear”. She was going to sell me an Energy cleaning kit for $350 by playing on my insecurity like a fiddle. Luckily, I wisened up and got out of there. 

Amongst the online Psychics I went to in my time of breakup grief, there was Keen, a platform I saw recommended on forums, but the most famous and expensive Psychic there, who has been a reader for decades, only made me feel confused and insecure.

There was Kasamba, one of the newer platforms, which was very reasonably priced, but one the Psychic tried to sell me a “White magic” spell, and that just completely turned me off.

There was Purple garden, which felt nice at the time I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I could just send a question to the Psychic and they would reply, usually within 24 hours. I didn’t find any exceptional Psychics there but they were all generally helpful.

There was Psychic Source, which apparently has been around since 1989. I could tell because the expensive Psychics were really old. Unfortunately, I felt they were sooo not worth the price and decided to close my account.

And lastly, there was California Psychics, a platform that boasts about having a strict criteria for Psychics. I did feel some genuine connections there, but nothing that could give me closure.

Ultimately, I sat down in a park, took a deep breath and just listened to myself. I let myself feel everything. I even cried a bit. And found that my intuition gave me a much better Psychic reading than any of those other Psychics. I could feel in my bones that my ex will not come back the way I wanted him to. I could feel that even though our love was strong, our relationship was not meant to be. Because he was not emotionally and mentally in a place he needed to be. And deep down, I needed to start believing that I am worthy of love.

I didn’t need a remote viewer, a clairvoyant, a tarot reader or an astrologer to tell me that. I just needed to listen to my own intuition in a calm environment.

Instead of visiting more Psychics, I decided to go to therapy. And honestly, I would say a good therapist is better than the best Psychic in terms of guiding you and giving you clarity.

I still sometimes go to Psychics, and my most recommended platform right now is California Psychics. But it’s mostly for confirmation of what my own intuition is telling me. I don’t rely on them to tell me my truth. Because I know my truth is inside me. I just need to make myself calm and look inside.

2. California Psychics – Mid Range to Premium Psychics are extremely helpful. Their USP is that they thoroughly vet their Psychics and only accept 2% of applications. I tested 25 of their Psychics and found the majority to be genuinely helpful. But compared to Kasamba, the Psychics are expensive.

My most recommended Psychics are Eileen, Mattie, Uli, Thalia and Rika. For career readings, I recommend Stevie and Tommy. And for mediumship, I recommend Rika and Anais. I didn’t have a good experience with Caleb, Asia and Eriq. Psychics here mostly do phone readings.

4. Purple Garden – A relatively new platform. They have an app which allows you to ask questions to Psychics via text and get replies via a video recording. I did not have a great experience with this channel but some people find it helpful. 

My recommended Psychics are John Luke, Readings By Gina, Psychic Jewels, and Psychic Norrell. I did not have a good experience with Turkish Gypsy Ellie Hassan and Psychic Logan.

• Psychic Logan ($4.99/minute) – Our tester did not think he answered his question. He gave some general advice and a lot of it felt scripted. His reviews on forums and trustpilot aren’t good either.

• Melodie Marie ($6.49/minute) – She asks for the birthday of your POI and starts her reading. Our tester found her to have a calm-soothing voice and described her as “quietly confident”. She is an empath and a remote viewer and we found her short term predictions to be very accurate.
• Northstar Julie ($7.95/minute) – She was hard to get hold of because of her popularity. But we found her early morning Eastern Time and were impressed by her accuracy and advice. She makes you think about the big picture and gives you broad view of your life and a vision. It provides a lot of clarity and confident to her readers. She has great reviews on forums for this reason as well.

However, our testers did not have a great experience with her as they found her to be rude and unreliable. She changed her reading when the testers gave her new information and it made them feel like it was just a cold reading.
• Elizabeth of the Light ($5.99/minute) – Our tester felt she was rude in delivering a negative outcome. It also felt like she was instilling fear in the testers which is why they decided to end their reading session. She is popular on forums and has great reviews on Keen but we don’t recommend her.
• Evanora Flores ($4.5/minute) – She has bad reviews on forums and our testers did not have a great experience with her either. They also found her to be rude.

Verdict – Psychic source is also one of the oldest platform and worth trying. However, Psychics there can get expensive very quickly once the free offer runs out. We only tested 5 of their Psychics and the quality was reasonable.

• Yona Farrell – A very popular Psychic on internet forums. We did not get a reading from her but from our research, she seems very helpful for most people and her prices are reasonable.

We have not investigated them further but for now, we caution our readers from buying any Psychic reading from this platform. They are active on social media and there’s a good chance you will see ads from them.

2. Any spellcasters/curse removal – Any portal or website that promises spell casters or guaranteed results should be avoided at all costs. The responsible psychic community also criticizes such practices and there is no guarantee that it works. In 100% of cases, spell casters are scamming you with false promises. Spells can not make someone fall in love, cure health conditions, make you win the lottery or any other ridiculous claims they make. Please, be wary of such things even if a part of you desperately wants to believe it.

It’s an unregulated industry – So you can never be 100% sure.

I have said it before but I should still mention that not all Psychics on these platforms were gifted or even helpful. Some of them felt like they were cold readings and some were outright rude in our tests. A few even tried to sell spells during or after the reading. And we have mentioned that in our review below as well.

Understand that Psychics is an unregulated industry and it’s very hard for these platforms to maintain the quality of their Psychics. Despite that, my analysis found California Psychics to have the best quality Psychics amongst them all.

How To Choose a Psychic On These Platforms?

Once you have chosen a Psychic platform, you will need to choose a Psychic. Here are my recommendations – 

1. Look for genuine reviews – Don’t trust every review. Cross check Psychic reviews on TrustPilot, independent forums and independent review sites. A healthy mix of positive and negative reviews is a good sign. 

2. Look at their profile description or video description – Sometimes, you will see a video description of the Psychic and will feel instantly connected to them. Other times, their profile description will speak to you. Use your judgement.

3. Platform recommendations – Platforms such as California Psychics have staff picked advisors and sections such as “rising stars”. It’s a good place to find genuine Psychics as the staff has a good idea which Psychics are doing well. But keep in mind that the platforms are incentivized to keep getting more readings.

How To Spot a Fake Psychic from a Genuine One?

Okay, now that you have chosen a platform and a Psychic, you still need to be a little cautious during the reading. Here are a few tips –

1. Maintain Composure – If you are panicking and go into the reading crying, a fake psychic will get a lot of cues about your mental state and use that to cold read you. If you say, “I am dying here. I need to know if he still loves me.” The psychic already has a lot of information about you and they can use it to convince you that they are real. But if you maintain composure and calmly ask them, “I want to know how this person feels about me. His name is Mike”, you aren’t giving them a ton of information.

2. Give Minimum Information – A genuine Psychic will be able to connect with you with minimum information, but a fake psychic will always fish for more information. During the reading, share only what’s needed or asked. Keep an open mind but keep your mouth shut unless you are asked to speak.

3. Good Psychics don’t ramble on and waste your time – I have noticed that good Psychics get to the point quickly and don’t waste your time rambling on. One of my top recommended Psychic “Mattie from California Psychics” says that her aim is to help people in a way that they stop calling Psychic hotlines.

4. Trust your instincts – If you don’t feel the Psychic is right for you, just hang up the call or end the chat. 

5. Genuine Psychics make you feel empowered, not dependent – If you feel a desperate need to return to the Psychic, they may have used fear tactics to keep you hooked.

Why do you rate all this platform so low?

Our ratings are based on a strict criteria where both a Skeptic and a Believer come together to review. As such, even a Psychic scores highly for the participant, a Skeptic can see through cold reading/Barnum effect and pull their ratings down simply because it removes their claim to have real psychic powers.

Don’t let this discourage you though. Some psychics probably do have real gifts and you are most likely to find them on the platforms rated highest in our review.

Are Psychics Powers or Mediums Real?

There is no scientific evidence to prove Psychic powers or paranormal powers exist. Several scientists have tried to prove it and failed. One fine gentleman even offered a $1 million reward for anyone who can prove it, but the reward remained unclaimed and was discontinued in 2015. The psychic community calls the test too rigid and unrealistic – a claim which does hold some ground. After all, psychics tend to work with “energies” and “chakras”, which are very personal and their readings often don’t come true in literal ways, but what Carl Jung called Synchronicity.

But, just because science denies it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I have personally felt really connected with the spirits after a psychic reading. And I have had experiences that are simply not possible to explain through the science lens. And there are millions of people like me who believe in Psychics the same way I do. It’s because for us, Psychics are real based on our life experience. The same way God is.

Why did you include a Skeptic as an analyzer?

Kevin, the owner of this website and one of the analyzer, is a skeptic. But he is not the type of skeptic who believes “all psychics are scammers and everyone should stay away from them.” He is open minded and he believes Psychic readings can be helpful for people and they have a place in this world. So his involvement and feedback is valuable while also bringing in a bit of healthy skepticism.

Review Criteria in detail –

This is our review criteria explained in detail.

1. Safety

This is our top most priority since people who usually look for a Psychic reading are going through mental duress and are vulnerable. So even though some Psychics can be very helpful and enlightening, others can use this vulnerable state to their advantage.

We measured safety by analyzing the advice or predictions the Psychic gave. Kevin and I listen to the reading and the feedback provided by the participant and determine if it’s safe advice.

For example, a common question participants have is “Will my ex come back” which a malicious Psychic could use to their advantage by saying something like, “I do see your ex wants to come back, but there is a “curse/energy/block” stopping them. You can do this to make them back.” and then proceed to sell them more services.

Thankfully, we did not find such Psychics in any of the major platform that we reviewed but we have heard stories of them and we try to highlight such con artists as well so people can stay away from them.

2. Reading Accuracy

Psychics claim to feel things or see things that tell them about you. Most Psychics call it energy. While skeptics just call it cold reading/ hot reading or Barnum effect. Thankfully, we had both a skeptic and a believer as an analyzer.

Kevin and I both discussed what the Psychic said about the participant in their reading. And we correlated it with the participant’s feedback about how accurate they felt their reading was.

We factor both the participant’s feeling and the whether the reading could be cold reading/hot reading / barnum effect.

For most of our analysis, the reading could be explained by cold reding/hot reading or the barnum effect. But we still give them points for making the participant believe in their reading as that is a part of the whole Psychic reading experience.

3. Prediction Accuracy

If the psychics made any claim about the future, we follow up with our participants if those claims come true.

We also factor in how general the claim is vs how specific it is. For example, “you will come across good fortune in the next two years” is quite general. Whereas, “You will meet a balding man in New Orleans in December who will be your soulmate.” is quite specific.

As of now, none of the prediction has come true mainly because not enough time has passed since the reading. We will update our review as some claims do or do not come true.

4. Clarity and Guidance

We turn to Psychics when need some clarity in life. And a good Psychic reading can certainly provide clarity. For this criteria, we only referred to the feedback provided by our participants on how much clarity they got from the Psychic session. Some of them were life changing while others were just mediocre.

5. Spiritual Connection

A good Psychic can make you feel connected with your loved ones or the spirits. For me personally, when that Psychic spoke about my grandmother guiding me, it really made me feel connected to her and made me feel like my Nana is still looking out for me.

Whether or not their is an afterlife is not the question here. We leave those topics for scientists and skeptics. I felt connected to my grandmother after that Psychic reading knowing full well that there may not be an afterlife. I chose to believe in it and believe in my Nana looking after me.

So for this criteria, we solely relied on the feedback from our participants and whether or not they felt connected with spirits, the energy of the universe or their loved ones.

6. Platform Rating

This criteria covers stuff like,

• How easy was the platform to use?
• How easy was it to find a Psychic?
• How transparent was the platform in terms of pricing?
• How trustworthy did the platform look?

All these things are pretty basic stuff and easy to review. We found most platforms to be easy to use while some had issues with pricing transparency.
